World Chess Championships
Chess as we know is a game of brilliance. It's the battle of the wits of two players who compete against each other using intelligence and tactics without affording to take a chance. Chess requires high level of analytical intuitive abilities. The basis of the games dates back to the 7th century India and the Game Chaduranga.
Some of the major events coming up in the championships of chess are the most prestigious World Chess Championships 2007 to be held in the city of Mexico and the chess championships to be held in the Doha Asian Games 2006 to be held from 1st to 15th Dec.
Four players in the chess World Championship in Mexico City qualified for the World Chess championships by finishing in the top half of the last event, held in 2005 in San Luis, Argentina. They were the winner, Veselin Topalov, plus Viswanathan Anand, Peter Svidler, and Alexander Morozevich. On Oct. 13, 2006, Vladimir Kramnik defeated Topalov in a championship unification match and so will take his place in Mexico City as the defending champion.
The World Chess Championships in Mexico will be held at the Sheraton Centro Histórico Hotel located by the historic centre of Mexico. It is surrounded by some of the finest tourist destinations and shopping hubs of the city.
