Military World Games 2007

The International Military Sports Council has entrusted the organisation of the 4th CISM Military World Games to the Indian Armed Forces. Invitation is extended to a mission representing countries to participate in the 4th CISM Military World Games, which is scheduled to be held in India from 14 to 21 October 2007. This would definitely be India's biggest sporting event for the coming year.

"Bravo, the mascot for the games was launched in a glittering ceremony in Delhi. Bravo is the great Indian Bison, also known as Gaur which has immense strength, vigor and doggedness, but when disturbed drives terror into the hearts of its opponents. It symbolizes the character of the Indian Armed Forces, which combines strength and dignity. Incidentally, this mascot has been conceptualized and designed by an Indian Army Officer, Lt. Col H. Padmanabhan. "Bravo" would now travel to Hyderabad and Mumbai to spearhead the massive festivities and arrangements associated with mega world sporting event.

As a prelude to the Military World Games, a "Run For Fun" was organized in the host city of Hyderabad. Over 7000 people from the various military, paramilitary establishments, schools and citizens of Hyderabad took part in the race to lend support to the cause of the games. Lt. Gen. Ashok Kapur, Chief of Staff of the Indian Army's Southern Command, flagged off the run. Bravo, the mascot of the games was unveiled in a dramatic style at the end of the Run. "Bravo" took everyone by surprise by coming down the stage and mingling with the crowd and shaking hands with Chief of Army staff, Gen. JJ Singh and other distinguished guests including scores of media men.
