Valencia and Inter Milan charged with improper conduct

The European Soccer's Governing Body, UEFA, has charged Valencia and Inter Milan with improper conduct. This happened after the Spanish side's substitute David Navarro started a major brawl at the end of their Champions League victory at the Mestalla on Tuesday, 6th March. UEFA has stated that both clubs will face an investigation with the case now due to be considered by its control and disciplinary body on March 14.
The incident occurred when Valencia defender Navarro floored Burdisso with a punch in the face resulting in a broken nose for the Argentinean. This happened at the end of the match. Several Inter players later chased Navarro as he ran off the pitch. A pandemonium followed in the centre of the field and continued in the tunnel as several Inter players tried to follow Navarro into the dressing room. Security guards had to intervene to bring the situation under control. There were reports in the local media that Navarro left the stadium by a back door.
Navarro and his Valencia teammate Carlos Marchena, who kicked out at Burdisso, have been charged by UEFA with serious unsporting conduct. Burdisso and his Inter teammates Ivan Cordoba and Maicon have been booked too. Navarro later admitted that he was ashamed of his behavior. "I'm ashamed and very much regret what I did. I
haven't seen the television pictures and the truth is I don't want to either. I'm upset because I've never done anything like this in my life before nor will I
again," he said. He also said that he would try to phone Burdisso in order to apologize.
Though the match ended in a goalless draw, Valencia qualified for the quarterfinals on the away goals rule after a 2-2 draw in Milan two weeks ago.
