Australian Open: Sania out in second round

India's Sania Mirza lost her second round of Australian Open Singles on Thursday, January 18, 2007 in Melbourne. She lost in straight sets to Japan's Aiko Nakamura 6-3, 6-2 ranked 12 places below her. 

Mirza was erratic throughout the match. Her 26 unforced errors against Nakamura's nine were, to an extent, responsible to end her hopes of the Singles' title in the year's first Grand Slam.

Mirza had previously beaten Nakamura in their only encounter at the Japan Open in 2005. A disappointed Mirza hoped to learn from her mistakes.

However, she will keep her fight on in the Australian Open with a win in the women's doubles event.
