Sania Mirza pulls out of Qatar Open due to injury

Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza pulled out of the Qatar Open WTA Tennis tournament due to a knee injury. Mirza announced this decision just before her second round singles match to be played in front of the packed stadium against Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko on 28th February.
Sania had sustained the injury during her game against Italy's Romina Oprandi n the opening round on Monday, 26th February. Overcoming some early hiccups, she had defeated the Italian, 6-4, 6-3 to move into the second round. The injured player had withdrawn from the doubles event on Tuesday. She will now return to India and is scheduled to undergo a scan on Thursday, 1st March. The 46th ranked Indian is scheduled to play next in Indian Wells Tournament in another two weeks.
In another match, Justin Henine beat Alicia Molik of Australia 6-2, 7-6 (9) on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals.
