Chennai Open: Double delight for Xavier Malisse

Malisse created history at Chennai Open Championship by securing both singles and doubles titles at the SDAT Tennis Stadium at Nungambakkam, Chennai on Sunday, January 7, 2007. He won the Single’s title against Austria's Stefan Koubek 6-1, 6-3.

The Belgian had ousted Rafael Nadal, the world number two in the Singles semifinals match to enter finals on Saturday. And on Sunday, together with his Doubles partner Dick Norman, he won his final Doubles title against the Spanish duo Nadal and Bartolome Salva Vidal 7-6(4) 7-6(4) as well as the final Singles title to become the first player to win both the titles in the same edition. 

Malisse's flawless line of attack helped him in his triumphant achievement at the Chennai Open Championships.
