Indian Cricket Team Leaves for the World Cup

The Indian Cricket Team left for the 2007 World Cup in West Indies amidst cries of
"come on India" from a huge crowd of supporters who braved tight security arrangements at the Mumbai Airport early Thursday morning.
More than a thousand cricket fans had turned up at the Mumbai international airport, waving flags and chanting
'Come on India' as the team departed for the West Indies. For the fans it was a rare opportunity to see the entire cricket together.
It was a chaotic scene at the airport as the fans kept cheering even long after the team disappeared into the airport terminal. It was a rare sight too for the airport security personnel, who had a tough time dispersing the crowd.
India last won the World Cup in 1983 and reached the finals under Sourav
Ganguly's captaincy in the 2003 edition. After the team's exceptional showing at home against the West Indies and Sri Lanka recently, the fans have reason to hope for a second world cup triumph. India will play the first match of the tournament on March
17, against Bangladesh.
