The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) is the ultimate governing body for Indian cricket and is also responsible for setting the protocols. It started in 1929. It is a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and represents the country in international platforms. It holds the right to choose the players, umpires and other officials and executes total control over them. No competitions involving Indian players can be conducted within or outside the country without BCCI's recognition.
It normally comprises of the State cricket associations. It also enjoys tax exemption and has the right to use any stadium across the country.
The President of BCCI is Sharad Pawar (elected 29 November, 2005). Niranjan Shah is the secretary. The annual elections for all posts are held at BCCI's Annual General Meeting.
The extreme popularity of cricket in India has equipped the BCCI with some of the most beneficial sponsors in world sports. Unfortunately,
the official website www.bcci.tv for this richest administrative body in the Indian sports domain
